Business continuity in action
When Jordan Fitness experienced a complete internet outage caused by an external road worker damaging its leased-line cable, ECS responded immediately. The physical damage was outside the control of both Jordan Fitness and ECS. However, proactive monitoring, fast communication and a practical continuity solution helped minimise the disruption.09:41 ECS monitoring generated an alert showing that the Jordan Fitness internet connection had gone offline.
09:45 Within four minutes of the alert, ECS had discussed the outage with Jordan Fitness and begun assessing the available options.
Cause identified The leased-line connection had been physically damaged by an external road worker, meaning the normal internet service could not be restored remotely.
Continuity solution deployed ECS prepared and installed a brand-new 5G backup device to provide Jordan Fitness with a temporary internet connection.
12:37 Jordan Fitness was fully operational again using the temporary 5G service, less than three hours after the initial monitoring alert.
Normal service restored Once the leased-line cable had been repaired, ECS safely reverted Jordan Fitness to its primary connection and removed the temporary 5G solution.
Results and outcomes
